Interior design is not a set formula. Each space is unique and every clients’ requirements are different. Each project poses its own set of challenges and demands individual, creative solutions. We look at the project from the inside out, understanding what you require from the space, how you live and how you want it to feel. These considerations are fundamental to the design process and ultimately determine the layout and the practical functionality of the space. You interact with the interiors on a day to day basis and it is essential that they work for you.
The earlier we are involved the better, adding a fresh pair of eyes, explaining where things will work and equally where they won’t and providing solutions that can be easily incorporated at this stage. Towards the end of a project it is often costly and too late to move a radiator to accommodate the large L-shaped sofa you have set your heart on or incorporate wall lights to soften and layer the lighting. All those seemingly small, but many, decisions such as sockets, switches and radiators end up having a real impact on the final functionality of your home.
There are so many choices out there and with our expertise and knowledge we will advise on everything from flooring to furnishings, lighting to layouts, colours to curtains, guiding and helping you make those key decisions at every stage in what can be an exhausting and overwhelming process.
We work collaboratively with you to realise your vision and create interiors that are unique to you and reflect your style. As every project is different and each client requires different levels of assistance our consultations are tailored to individual requirements.

HOURLY CONSULTATIONS
Not every project starts from scratch, we often work with clients finishing off a room and creatively pulling the scheme together. We offer achievable, practical solutions, working with existing key pieces and suggesting how to enhance your rooms, whether it is adjusting the layout, changing the paint colour or simply adding a striking footstool. Sometimes it just involves a few tweaks to make a room sing.
Understanding your taste and style is key. During our initial consultation at your home we will discuss what you would like help with, how you live, how you want the rooms to feel and your budget. We give lots of advice and suggestions during this session and ways for you to implement our ideas. Our passion and expertise for layering textures and balancing colour and pattern will give you the confidence to step outside your comfort zone and create an interesting and inviting environment.
The initial onsite consultation is charged by the hour (on average takes approximately 2 hours). We would then invite you to the design studio, where we have an extensive fabric library and a vast array of samples, to discuss any window treatments, fabric or wallpaper for your project and quote for any soft furnishings.
Please note that sourcing of furniture, lighting, flooring and finishes that are not supplied through The Gilded Cabinet will be charged for at an hourly rate.

PAINT & COLOUR CONSULTATIONS
If you are finding choosing a paint colour completely overwhelming or want the confidence to commit to a striking wallpaper, then we offer an hourly paint and colour consultation service. We bring larger brushed out paint colour samples, from a number of independent suppliers, to look at in situ. Taking into account the style and age of the property, we see how the colours work with the light, the space and with existing furnishings. There are a myriad of shades and tones and we work to capture the perfect palette and create a harmonious flow throughout.
Using our expertise and in depth knowledge of the paint colours we work with daily, enables us to take the stress out of choosing the right colours and creating the desired ambience and atmosphere for your home. We work with paint from Little Greene, Paint & Paper Library, Zoffany, Sanderson and Designers Guild. These have been selected for their timeless palettes, high quality pigments and depth of colour.

WINDOW TREATMENTS
Curtains and blinds are an essential part of any interior, adding colour, texture and detail to a room. If you are looking to update your window treatments or tackle that huge set of bifold doors, we offer a free measuring service at your home. At this meeting we will take measurements, discuss options and recommend what would work best.
We will provide a detailed estimate, covering the options discussed, and invite you to the design studio to help you select suitable fabrics and any poles or tracks required. All our curtains and blinds are made to measure and hand finished to the highest standard with complete attention to detail. All pole and track fittings are undertaken by a professional fitter.
We manage the whole process from measuring right through to installation, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience.

UPHOLSTERY & SOFT FURNISHINGS
If you have a well-loved piece of furniture that needs a new lease of life or a modern sofa that is looking a bit tired, we offer a full upholstery service using traditional and modern methods. Alternatively, made to measure loose covers can be a smart choice if you require a more practical solution.
Headboards and footstools are a perfect way to make a statement and add a quirky twist to a room. Made to your size and requirements and incorporating interesting design details, bespoke upholstery is the ideal opportunity to create something truly unique.
Cushions are the final flourish and anchor all the elements in a room. It’s a chance to indulge in the details and have fun with the fabrics. Our cushions are bespoke and can be made in all shapes and sizes.
With our extensive fabric library and love of mixing unusual prints and patterns, we create layers of interest and bring colour and character to your home.
