It’s a funny time of year… there seems to be a feeling of killing time, whilst we wait impatiently for September to arrive.
Perhaps it’s the end of the summer holidays and time indeed for our children to go back to school – name tapes sewn into uniforms and shiny new school shoes waiting by the front door; or maybe it’s the anticipation of Decorex at the end of the month, when we will be treated to the first glimpse of new designs from the fabric houses. This is something that both Leanne and I look forward to immensely, as it’s a time to get the design cogs in motion and work out where we can slot these exciting new fabrics into current schemes.
This year September is a particularly exciting month for us as we draw nearer to our first anniversary on Friday, 12th. It seems incredible that we have made it through our first year and I find it even more amazing that we still have people coming in through the door who haven’t visited us before, exclaiming their delight as they feast their eyes on our Cabinet of Curiosities. The time has flown by and we have LOVED every minute of it. A gigantic THANK YOU to all of you out there who have become good clients, friends and general supporters of The Gilded Cabinet. We are most grateful and couldn’t have done it without you.
As August slides away, there is a distinct feeling of turning over a new leaf, or perhaps starting a new chapter in our epic story – we have so much in store for The Gilded Cabinet, our second year is going to be even bigger and better than the first – watch this space… Yippppppeeeee!

Spurred on by a client (you know who you are H) who stopped in to collect her cushions, after a minor shopping splurge in Guildford, and commented on our lack of recent blogs, here is what we have been up to. January saw us in Paris at Maison et Objet, the show of shows, a […]

Yesterday morning was the first time this season that I have had to scrape ice off the car windscreen. It seems winter has taken its time to get going, but here it is at last. As well as my nose feeling decidedly chilly whilst walking the dogs across the fields, I can feel a tingle […]

We are very excited! We’ve been off hunting and gathering and look what we have found. Little linen cupboard that would sit perfectly well below stairs in Downton. Alternatively this cabinet would be jolly useful in a modern kitchen to store and display all those tiny spice jars and other objects you can never find […]

Two weeks in to our new business and we are thrilled with the response we have had, so many lovely people have come through the door having watched with interest the transformation of the building from its previous life as a less than salubrious pub. Some of our favourite one-off pieces have been sold to […]

This is our first entry for ‘Thoughts from The Cabinet’. There is so much to say, it seems difficult to know where to start… It’s Sunday night and what a week it has been. Everything seems to have happened at once and so many decisions have been made. We are VERY excited though. We are […]
